The primary purpose of classroom assessment is to inform teaching and improve student learning. Achievement levels are used to communicate information about student learning and/or skill development using criteria for student success. Achievement levels focus on the depth of knowledge and understanding of an outcome/indicator/skill. This allows us as educators to answer the questions, "How are your students doing?" and "How do you know?"
